About the Author

My name is Geuka Amusa and I am the founder of humancipate.com.  I am a parent, a web designer, a dreamer and a wonderfully human being.  I started this web site because I am passionate about sharing information and experiences with people, in the hope that it positively impacts their lives.

The name "Geuka" is Swahili and means "The Turning Point".  In my life I have had my share of turning points.   Some have been really incredible and inspiring, others painfully humbling, some really life changing, some not so much.  My life is the result of all of those diverse experiences and they flavor my writing.

Let me start by providing a definition:

humancipate:
\hyü-’man-suh-peyt\, verb – To be truly alive by freeing one’s mind

I created the term humancipate (I like to make up words.  You’ll see this little guy when I do:  ), because it so marvelously captures what so many of us are trying to do . . . to free ourselves, more specifically, our minds.  I believe that we can drastically improve our existence if we are aware of our thoughts and use that awareness to create the lives we really want.

williamjames"The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind."

— William James
American Psychologist and Philosopher

I think we can best humancipate! by:

  • Connecting with others
  • Being authentic
  • Seeking truth
  • Living in the moment
  • Remaining humble
  • Using awareness to leverage our thinking

This site is geared toward helping people improve their lives and share their experiences related to these three primary areas:

In my own life I’ve endeavored to expand my thinking and actions as it relates to these subjects, because I am passionate about them.

I don’t have all of the answers or even all of the questions, but I do have a desire to be of service and to learn.  I want to connect with people, learn from those interactions and create value.  I believe that we all have access to a shared consciousness, and as I continue on my own journey, I want to share what I learn and learn from the sharing.

To the journey!
